Greater efficiency in logistics: Bosch Road Services brings digitalization to the road

With our Connected Services, we ensure greater efficiency in logistics. Rising transport costs, skills shortages, parking space issues, cargo theft, and growing customer demands for transparency and sustainability – the list of challenges is long. At the same time, digitalization and automation unlock immense potential. Our digital logistics platform, Bosch Road Services, not only demonstrates how we deliver on our promise of "greater efficiency," but also how we contribute to solving key industry problems – while simultaneously creating many additional benefits.

Europe's largest booking platform for truck parking spaces

With over 600 truck parking areas in 12 European countries, Bosch Road Services offers not only the largest selection of reservable truck parking spaces, but also an integrated component for parking management systems. Logistics companies benefit from digital and transparent management. To address the shortage of truck parking spaces, areas at rest stops, truck stops, and company premises are made available in cooperation with the operators. Through the Bosch Road Services booking platform, all stakeholders in the logistics sector – freight forwarders, transport companies, and truck drivers – can view these parking spaces digitally and book them in real time.

A core principle of Bosch Road Services: Transparency through digital information

  • Efficient planning and booking: A real-time overview of parking space availability enables logistics companies to plan routes flexibly. Truck drivers can drive directly to their booked space.
  • Full transparency: The platform provides detailed information on infrastructure and amenities, such as the availability of restrooms, showers, restaurants, shops, or truck washes. It also provides details on security features, for example, whether the parking area is illuminated, fenced, and monitored by video surveillance.
  • Easy booking and billing: Bookings are automatically documented and processed online via consolidated invoices. Full control over bookings, no hidden costs.
  • Further advantages: Targeted parking space reservations reduce stress for truck drivers, because they no longer have to search in vain for truck parking spaces, risk fines for violating driving and rest time regulations, or park dangerously on the roadside or on highway on- and off-ramps.

High safety standards: People and cargo are optimally protected.

Bosch Road Service also provides the highest security standards when needed. Registration at the parking area is digital, often via QR code or license plate recognition at the entrance or barrier. This prevents unauthorized access to the premises.

Bosch operates its own monitoring center, which is deployed at numerous sites: Specialists conduct virtual patrols via camera and react immediately to any suspicious activity. Audio interventions or alarm calls to the police are possible. State-of-the-art security technologies such as fencing with access control, video surveillance, and, last but not least, adequate lighting protect drivers and cargo. The corresponding parking areas are also certified according to European security standards (TAPA, EU Parking Standards).

Bosch Road Services is more than just a platform – it is a comprehensive ecosystem that makes logistics more efficient, safer and more future-proof.

Booking of truck loading spaces

With the increasing prevalence of electromobility in the transport sector, the demand for truck charging points is rising. For the efficient and punctual transport of goods, safe and predictable route planning for electric trucks is all the more crucial. With its specially developed charging point reservation function, Bosch Road Services offers a practical 360-degree solution. Charging points can thus be efficiently booked via the booking platform and factored into route planning – a win-win situation for everyone involved.

The benefits

Bosch Road Services benefits investors and charging station operators as well as freight forwarders and their drivers from the predictability of parking and charging options.

Optimal planning

Booking charging points at equipped truck stops and rest areas is conveniently done via the Bosch Road Services app or online platform.

Safety and reliability

Reserved e-charging spaces are not only guaranteed digitally, but are also protected from unauthorized parking by physical barriers.

Efficient operational processes

Automatic license plate recognition ensures smooth and quick access to the reserved electric vehicle charging station.

Maximum flexibility

Should a charging process be shorter than the legally mandated rest period for the driver, the parking space will still remain reserved for them. Changing parking spaces and thus interrupting the rest period is not necessary. This increases comfort for the drivers.

Strong partnerships: Synergies for maximum efficiency

Through strong collaborations and partnerships, Bosch is expanding the functions and benefits.

  • Cost and time savings: Processes become more efficient and transparent for FMS users.
  • Legal compliance: Automatic consideration of remaining driving time.
  • Consolidated services: All relevant data and services in a single application.
  • Improved security: Monitored areas for drivers and cargo.

Cooperation with Infoware and Toll Collect: Real-time parking data as an efficiency booster

Bosch Road Services, Infoware, and Toll Collect are combining their expertise to optimize the search for truck parking spaces on German federal highways.

  • Real-time occupancy: The MapTrip Maps route planning app and the MapTrip Truck navigation solution access real-time data from Toll Collect's Parking Space Information Service (SID), providing an overview of the occupancy of public truck rest areas.
  • Direct booking: Parking spaces from the Bosch Road Service network can be viewed and reserved directly in the apps.
  • The Parking Space Information Service (SID) is a joint project in Germany of Toll Collect, the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV), the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM), and Autobahn GmbH des Bundes (AdB). During a pilot phase until the end of 2025, it provides data for approximately half of all public rest areas along German highways. From January 2026, all approximately 1,900 rest areas will be integrated.
